Polaris Industries Inc. in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled about 7,200 snowmobiles because of a potential fire hazard.

The recall involves model year 2007, 2008 and 2009 Polaris snowmobiles with Clean Fire Injection (CFI) and a left-hand pump flange assembly. These sleds were sold by Polaris dealers nationwide from September 2006 through March 2009 for an average price of about $8,600.

According to the recall notice, the fuel lines on the affected snowmobiles can make contact with one another, which could result in a fuel leak. This can pose a fire hazard to consumers. There have been eight reports of fuel leaks, but no fires or injuries have been reported.

Consumers are asked to immediately stop using the recalled snowmobiles and contact any Polaris dealer to schedule a free repair. Polaris has already notified registered consumers directly about this recall.

For further information, consumers can contact Polaris directly at (888) 704-5290 or visit the company’s Web site at PolarisIndustries.com.
