Team Warnert Ski-Doo Pro racer Mike Schultz of Pillager, Minn., was qualifying for Pro Super Stock at the ISOC National series in Ironwood, Mich. on Dec. 13 when he crashed and suffered a serious injury. From accounts at the track, Schultz’s sled drifted sideways off a mogul and he jammed his leg down into the track. After several surgeries to save the leg, the main artery and nerve damage was too extensive to save the leg, so it was amputated.

‘Monster’ Mike’s recovery is progressing quickly and he was in attendance at the ISOC Canterbury Park National on Jan. 10. He was trackside to congratulate Warnert teammate Tim Tremblay on his late-race charge and victory in the Semi-Pro Super Stock final.

To help Schultz in his recovery, a number of benefits have been dedicated for his recovery and expenses. A silent auction will be held at Dondelinger Chevy in Brainerd, Minn. on Thursday, Feb. 5, prior to the ISOC National in BIR (Brainerd International Raceway). Also, Schultz will be signing autographs along with his fellow Pro and Semi-Pro fellow racers from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the dealership.

The ISOC is holding a season-long raffle for Schultz, and the grand prize is a Ski-Doo MX Z 600 fitted with custom Monster Mike graphics. Entries for the raffle will conclude at the last race of season in Lake Geneva, Wis.

In addition, fans and other supporters can donate to help Schultz with this recovery and medical expenses at US Bank under Mike Schultz Benefit.

A journal of Mike’s recovery is available at www.caringbridge.org/visit/mikeschultz.
