Maine raises snowmobile registration fee
Annual fee increases by $5
Maine snowmobilers will have to pony up an additional $5 a year to use the state’s snowmobile trails.
Maine Gov. John Baldacci has signed a bill that will raise the annual fee from $35 to $40 per year. Money from the registration fee goes to the state’s Snowmobile Trail Fund.
An earlier version of the bill proposed a much larger increase of $15.
Fees for non-residents did not rise this year. Non-residents can purchase a three-day (consecutive) registration for $43, 10 days (consecutive) for $58 and a full season for $88.
A resident renewal or a non-resident registration can be purchased from Maine’s Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife web site.
