Polaris Race Report: ACS NY and Soo I-500

Polaris snocross racers picked up a couple of big wins at the ISOC National racing in Salamanca, NY, while Polaris also took home a podium finish at the Soo I-500 endurance race.

Ryan Springer (Carlson Motorsports) won both Pro Lite finals during ISOC National racing Feb. 6-7, giving him three straight wins and making him the new Pro Lite points leader. In Pro Open, Ross Martin (Judnick Motorsports) continued his own hot streak and reached the podium in both of the weekend’s finals, which moved him up to third in points.

Springer’s weekend sweep moved him into the lead in Pro Lite points, four points in front of previous leader Trevor Leighton (Leighton Motorsports), who is now in second.

In Friday night’s Pro Lite final, Springer ran away with the victory and fellow Polaris racer Travis Muller (Cottew Motorsports) finished second. Polaris racers finished 1-2 again Saturday night as Springer won his third straight final and was followed across the line by James Johnstad (Judnick Motorsports). Andrew Carlson (Carlson Motorsports) finished fourth in both finals.

Springer left New York with the points lead, followed by Leighton in second, Carlson in fourth, Muller in fifth, Johnstad in sixth, and Zak Mason (Leighton Motorsports) in eighth.

Ross Martin finished second in both of the weekend’s Pro Open finals, extending his streak to seven straight ISOC National finals with a top-three finish. With this long run of consistently strong finishes, Martin has moved all the way up to third in Pro Open points, one point ahead of fellow Polaris racer Kyle Pallin (Team LaVallee).

In two Sport class finals at New York, Polaris racers earned four of six podium spots. Leading the way was Jacob Yurk (Team Vermillion), who won on Friday and finished second on Saturday. Cody Paolella finished third Friday and Evan Daudt (Daudt Racing) took third on Saturday. Yurk is second in Sport points, followed by Cole Cottew (Cottew Motorsports) in third, Daudt in fourth, and Durk Roper (Roper Racing) in sixth.

Nykea Williams (Team Southside Polaris) finished second in the Pro-Am Women’s final in New York, and Bruce Jesionowski (Snirt Racing) finished third in the Pro-Am +30 final.

Mitchell Thelen (Cottew Motorsports) won both of the weekend’s Amateur finals, and was joined on the podium by Logan Davies (Davies Racing), who took second on Friday, and Freddie Grove (US 27 Motorsports Racing), who was third on Saturday.

The next stop on the ISOC National tour schedule is Chicago, with racing on Feb. 20-21.
