509 Introduces New Altitude Snowmobile Helmet

When designers got to work on the new Altitude helmet, 509 says they had four ideals in mind: safety, performance, fit and style.

Featuring a dual density interlocking EPS foam liner, 509 says the Altitude helmet provides top crash protection and is certified to meet or exceed DOT and ECE 2205 safety standards. These standards were achieved by the use of a lightweight thermoplastic poly alloy shell. To protect the rider from a front impact, the Altitude uses an expanded polyurethane insert in the chin area.

As for performance, aerodynamic channels are contoured into the helmet shell and are designed to direct airflow into the vent scoops. 509 says these six low profile vent scoops provide the necessary air-flow to keep the rider comfortable when riding. Ventilation can be customized for temperature changes or rider preference with the removable VentStoppers inserts. And for those cold days the removable breath box and chin curtain can be installed for maximum protection from the elements. The visor features a locking top center mount that holds the visor in place and prevents unwanted visor movement. Each Altitude helmet also comes standard with a GoPro camera mount that mounts in seconds to the top visor mount and eliminates the need to use poor performing adhesive-based mounts.

The custom interior EPS features a liner than is easily removable for cleaning. The nine available sizes from Youth Small to Adult 2XL utilize three different sized outer shell molds. By using three mold sizes instead of the industry typical two molds sizes, 509 says the Altitude is able to achieve a precise fit while minimizing overall helmet circumference.

Eight different color options are available for the Altitude, each with a unique graphic style.

The Altitude has an MSRP of $229.95 and will be available this fall from Ride509.com & 509 authorized dealers.
