Product Description
Performance
3-cylinder Genesis® 120 4-stroke engine: The smooth-running 120hp-class Genesis 120 triple has proven itself one of the most reliable engines in all of the sport. Its broad power curve and excellent fuel economy have earned this carbureted classic a strong following among high-mileage enthusiasts. As you can see from the dyno chart in the technology section, the Genesis 120 keeps pulling hard once it gets into the peak performance zone. Competitive 2-stroke engines fall off as soon as they achieve their peak horsepower.
Direct-to-crankshaft clutching: Instead of using a gear reduction, the Genesis 120 engine has the primary clutch directly attached to the crankshaft. It allows the engine to be mounted deeper in the chassis to deliver a lower center of gravity, further improving the sleds cornering stability. The YVXC primary spins at 8500 RPM to transfer power from the engine to the secondary and on to the track.
15 in. x 121 in. x 1.25 in. Camoplast® Rip Saw™ track: The Camoplast Rip Saw track is a standard feature on the RS Vector ER. It has been widely acclaimed in the industry as the best all around OEM track for acceleration, cornering bite and everyday trail usage. The Rip Saw track is the result of a collaborative effort between Yamaha and Camoplast.
Rear-exiting exhaust: The exhaust is routed out the back of the sled in order to optimize and maximize airflow through the engine. The tuned system is specifically engineered to produce the Genesis 120s broad powerband and also helps keep the sled in balance.
Lightweight hydraulic brake system: The lightweight 4-piston brake system delivers solid stopping power without fading, even in high-use applications. It also incorporates a lightweight, double-finned, self-cooling brake disc.
Lightweight forged pistons: The forged pistons used in the Genesis 120 engine are engineered for light weight and still allow high compression rates of 11.3:1 on 87 Octane gas.
Handling
Deltabox® II with comfortable rider-forward position: The primary design objective of the Deltabox II chassis was to create a comfortable rider-forward posture. The ergonomic treatment is achieved by locating the handlebars and seated position high and forward on the chassis. With this positioning, the rider can go from sitting to standing and back again easily and comfortably. It also further centralizes the combined mass of sled and driver, for razor-sharp handling.
Second generation front suspension geometry: The geometry of the second generation front suspension features short spindles and long A-arms. The suspension was engineered to deliver excellent cornering stability and consistent turning effort throughout its travel stroke. It delivers 9 inches of vertical travel and sets the skis at 42 inches. Steering is consistent, because the spindle caster is maintained at a constant 23 degrees.
Integrated airbox/small hood: The design on the RS Vector ER is very efficient, often integrating many functions into one component. One such example is the use of the airbox as a part of the hood design. The upper element, closest to the headlight, is comprised of the silencer cover for the airbox. This design feature allows for a very small hood piece, which keeps weight low.
Magnesium valve, crankcase and oil pump covers: Yamaha incorporated liberal usage of ultra-lightweight magnesium material wherever possible to minimize weight on engine componentry. The use of magnesium is widespread on all Genesis-class engines.
Tall, wide, hooked handlebars: To match the tall and forward position, a single-piece, dual-hooked handlebar is standard fare on the RS Vector ER. The hooks have the same grip material as the main bar section, for consistent control, regardless of hand position on the grip.
Saddleless plastic skis: The saddleless plastic ski reduces unsprung weight and its aggressive keel design provides strong bite to help the RS Vector ER corner.
Comfort
Mono Shock™ RA rear suspension: The Mono Shock RA rear suspension uses a single shock to control the travel of the skid. The shock is remotely adjustable via a rotating dial located conveniently on the left side of the tunnel, near the drivers leg. The suspension is widely adjustable to suit nearly any rider in nearly any condition. In addition to the remote adjustment, the Mono Shock RA is also adjustable at the coil spring and at the control rod.
36 mm KYB aluminum HPG front shocks: The 36mm KYB High Pressure Gas (HPG) shocks on the RS Vector ERs second generation front suspension geometry deliver consistent performance with excellent fade resistance.
Tall, lightweight seat: The RS Vector ERs lightweight seat features a roomy cargo space. The height of the trail seat makes it even easier to go from sitting to standing, while the firm foam provides extra comfort. It features a color band to match the sleds lines and graphics.
Wide runningboards with star-punched traction: The RS Vector ERs wide runningboards feature star-punched traction throughout its entire length. The boards also have an outer traction roll for additional sure footing in any riding condition. As an added benefit, the traction holes help eliminate snow and slush from the runningboard, delivering additional confidence and comfort.
Digital gauge with extensive data features: The RS Vector ER features a digital gauge array that displays a wide variety of data. In addition to the functions, the gauge has been styled to match the aggressive lines of the body work and console area.
Standard electric start: Yamahas electric starter system allows consumers to fire up their RS Vector ER with a turn of the key. There is no pulling on a nylon cord to get this high-tech engine growling! Electric start has been a standard feature on all of Yamahas 4-stroke machines.
